Lisa, who lives near me and runs Greyhound Gap, whcih helps greyhounds and lurchers, lost her old boy, Duke, yesterday. He had his breakfast and settled with a treat, while Lisa walked the other greys, then , when she got home, went into his crate and died.
Now she'd been in contact with a general breed rescue, who told her of an old lurcher, who'd been rehomed with her daughter, but she was returned and had been overlooked for a year. This dog's story touched Lisa, as it was similar to that of another one, so she determined to help the old girl, when her current foster was ready to move on.
With Duke's passing, she decided that the old bitch could be taken on now, but it wasn't until she'd put down the phone, after making arrangements, that she realised the bitch was called Duchess !
