• If you're a past member of the board, but can't recall your password any more, you don't need to set up a new account (unless you wish to). As long as you recall your old login name, you can log in with that user name then select 'forgot password' and the board will email you at your registration email, to let you reset your password.

Hi all, and thanks for letting me and my fur kids join your cavalier forum!

I am a vet student from Brisbane Australia with my own succesfull Cavalier Rescue group. I am mum to 5 cavalier fur babies, Gabby, Louis and Leo being my rescue kids I have kept, Lilly me original and my pet and Mia my foundation breeding bitch for my Cavyla prefix.

Im a very passionate person on Mandatory desexing laws for all non purebred Kennel club registered dogs, and totally anti 'designer dogs'. I spend mych time lobbysing for mandatory heart screening in this country on our breeding stock, as well as introducing the idea of 'hip scoring'.

I live and breath cavaliers, and have done for many years since I lost my pound dog, a Pyrenean Saint bernard cross. It was at this point I purchased 'Lilly' and my love affair began.

Im so looking forward to meeting new people across the globe that have things in common, and especially chatting with fellow rescue people.

Welome and delighted to have another rescue person and passionate health advocate on the board! :) I have a Lily and a Leo too. :lol: If you want to be listed in the rescue contacts in the breed rescue section, let me know. We don't have an Australian listing yet!
 
Welcome, its good to hear of a cavalier rescue here in Oz. I am in WA and as far as I know we don't have one. I would love to look into creating one but at this stage in my life do not have the time or the financial resources to start. Maybe when I am more financially secure. I also do not think my cavy babies would cope with dogs coming and going as they are not well socialised. I am attempting to learn all about this breed on my journey so hopefully one day I can help.

Karlin I will send you some details for the Australian Rescue Link, that would be so much appreciated by me if you added my rescue group.

In comparison to many other International rescues, I suppose my numbers are quite small. On average, I rehome about 50 cavaliers a year, and have a few lovely people that help me out with fostering. Sadly, health testing is only just really starting to take of in this country so a good 96% of Cavs I see have severe health issues.

Im completely over the top when it comes to my cavs, they have become my whole life in the past few years, and I suspect they will continue to be that way for quite some time yet :)

Im not at all clever on the computer, so I cant make any promises as to how long the wait will be for photos, but tommorrow, ill have a good study of the instructions and give it a shot :)

Welcome Kyla. Don't worry, you'll find plenty of cavalier fanatics here. We've just rescued our first cavalier through Karlin and so far it's been a very rewarding experience. Look forward to seeing your pictures :flwr:

and welcome. Its really nice to have another Aussie on this forum. I have been looking for a rescue group in Victoria but as yet have had no luck. I cant wait to see your photos.
 
Welcome Kyla. Good to hear of your rescue work. I'm from NSW and was lucky enough to find a breeder who is interested in health testing for heart, eye, patella and hip scoring.

Wow, that is a LOT; most US and UK breed clubs wouldn't see those numbers I don't think. That's more than I home and like you I operate alone and am totally dependent on fosters and working with a couple of general rescues that sometimes can hold a dog. I initially only had about 12 cavaliers a year but I'd say it will be more like 30 this year. I can just about keep up with that number. :lol:
 
Welcome and I can't wiat to see pictures of your babies! I love hearing rescue success stories so please feel free to share!! It brings me so much joy that people all over the world are doing so much to help this wonderful breed. Keep up the fight!!!
 
Wow 50 is a lot. There hasnt been much need for a rescue group here in Phoenix AZ USA, as Cavaliers still are not that well known. I have flown out twice to get Cavalier rescues from other parts of the USA. I fly out day after tomorrow for my third.

Thats got to be an awesome feeling to be able to help so many babies in need... my hats off to you!
