angel eyes supplement for food

I went to the dog bakery today and they were selling a product called angel eyes. You put a little in the pup's food and it is supposed to prevent the staining that occurs with their eyes.

I saw that at a grooming shop, too. I just have a funny feeling about giving my dogs an unknown substance and not knowing if it would negatively affect their health.
