Just to keep you posted on George's coughing/gagging. My vet said that the x-ray showed a narrowing of his trachea and referred him to the vet
college in Dublin. He went on Monday and had several tests done. Blood tests were fine. His heart was checked out and also appears to be fine. He then had an x-ray and the vet seems to think that there isn't actually a collapse. Their x-rays are digital and much clearer and so far no collapse! She said she can't rule it out 100% and that it could be very minor but it seems to be ok. In saying that she still needs to find out the cause of the cough. She checked his blood for any abnormalities but it was fine (except for the preds). At the moment he's on medication for lungworms and he's going back in 2-3 weeks to have the camera down his trachea to see if there is any problems/inflammation etc. So it looks like it's good news for George. We're so happy that he's ok. After being told that he had tracheal collapse and a slightly enlarged heart we were terrified of the outcome. Bottle of champagne chilling as I type!!
