Hi need some advice finn is very bad with other dogs he doesn't seem to like them at all. I thought it was just bigger dogs, but a friend of mine picked up her cavalier on friday he only 8 weeks old and finn is afraid if him too ,finn is double his size so its not size that bother's him I thought it was. He is fine as long as he doesn't come near him he won't play with them at all he does everything he can to avoid bailey :(.

I hate seeing him afraid should I just keep trying, all finn wants to do is get on my lap which I try not to do.

He is will get there niamh he just needs time, he may just need to get use to the other days and he doesn't want them coming to him!!

I bet he will be fine in a few weeks!

Going to his classes will really help. Try to keep letting him mix with other dogs as much as possible. It is important for him to gain confidence.

Oh yes, classes are wonderful for socialising. My Beau is going to puppy classes & my plan is to take him right through advanced training if possible. We've been going now for about 5 weeks now and it is really fun to watch the new puppies (often up to 18 months old ) on their first day, all snappy & snarly because they are scared. By their second class their little tails are up in the air & they are doing hot-laps with all the other puppies. By the third class they think they are the cock of the walk :D

Not to worry, with the right socializing he'll be fine :flwr:

Ollie was not confident in puppy school but you would never be able to tell now! He is still quite submissive but will willingly run up to other dogs for a sniff and a lick! With me trying to stop him most of the time

Thanks everyone finn is going to his second week of training tonight :D. We never let him shy away from other dogs we sit on the floor with finn and the other 2 dogs my friend has and try to get him to play but no way bailey the 8 week old cav loves finn and bouncys around finn wanting to play the other dog is a terrier mix she not into playing as much as she older put loves to have a smell.

Curious, how old were your puppies when you started puppy class??? Dixie is almost 11 weeks old. Just wondering when they are old enough to start puppy school? Thanks, Judy

Hi finn was 13 weeks its fine once they have had all their injections, I think thats the only rule we are just back from our second class he is doing really well I think its good to start them young :D
