I got back from vacation late last night and went through my PM's and e-mails and here is the total of donations/pledges to date:
$1,250!!!
That is nothing short of amazing! I never expected such a positive response. Just goes to show what amazing things you people can do behalf of our breed. So thank you SOOOOOOO much for all you have donated; I just know we can beat SM when we have responses like this.
And last, but not least, here is an e-mail I received from Clare and Penny:
Penny and I have been quite overwhelmed with the response to the 'LA project'. Cavalier lovers have been paramount in supporting research into this condition and nothing could have demonstrated this more than this initiative promoted by Bruce and Karlin on the Cavalier Talk and Cavalier Connection Boards. We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts because once again you have shown confidence in what we are trying to achieve together and provided us with the means to do so.
To get the maximum out of the next genome scan (proposal in for a AKC CHF grant) we are increasing the number of DNA samples from MRI confirmed siblings and older relatives. This is especially important in a condition which can have a late onset. We have also been collecting DNA from other breeds with and without CM/SM in order to make comparisons and provide controls. Final 'tweaking' may make all the difference - and this is where your contribution has been used. Small groups of people joining together can make a BIG DIFFERENCE. Watch this space - we will be reporting back!!
Very kind regards
