    Default Rescue in Ottawa

Does anyone know if there is a rescue organization in Ottawa, Canada?

Someone is trying to find a home for this little guy on my work newsgroup - he's deaf, so he needs special attention:

Better to light a candle for one lost dog than to curse the darkness of man's indifference. Saving just one dog won't change the world but it surely will change the world for that one dog.

He is adorable. I don't know anyone who does rescue in Canada but surely someone does. The deafness at a young is a no biggee...there's nothing to adjust too since he was probably born deaf. I hope someone can help him.

Here's a link to a website that may help get you started in finding a rescue group to take him

    Hi!

Wrong side of the "pond" to offer any help, but I hope that this little guy finds a forever home ASAP

Also -- this dog should be checked for PSOM ('glue ear' in cavaliers) by any future owners. Often this is a cause of deafness and can be fairly easily resolved by flushing the ear (as rugical procedure which sometimes needs to be repeated).

Deaf dogs are VERY EASY to manage -- the main issue is not letting them offlead and watching they do not get out the door near traffic -- but you can even buy vibrating collas for them to call them!

I'd ask her to be very cautious about homing him 'free to good home' as he is young enough to end up in a puppy mill.

There is no reason at all to put down a deaf dog -- I am *sure* Canadian rescue will take him right away and place him into the perfect home.

Elaine knows people in Ottawa who'll be coming this way (she's near Toronto) on the weekend.

If you pm me the contact information (or call Elaine directly), she can call a Cavalier person to bring him down to this area.

Ottawa is about 6 hours away, by car. Thanks. ;D
