Puppy class

Barney finished his puppy class on Sunday and now has his certificate and rosette. He has a girlfriend there, a boxer called Frankie he tends to sit on her head and roll about with her.:D The next stage will be the bronze class which will be starting in September, can't wait, Barney loves going there.

Well done you both!

I brought mine to her first puppy class this evening. Not sure if it's going well at all. I think out of the eleven dogs there, there's three puppies & the rest are clearly dogs with dog aggression issues. She's absolutely petrified of them all following almost being bitten by a Staffie, who she was wary of anyway as he kept trying to fight a GSD, so walking with the group is a bit of a nightmare.

Well done Barney. Congratulations on your certificate. :rah:

Freesia, what did Barney learn in his puppy obedience. The reason I ask as that Beau goes to obedience too and I am wondering whether the structure is the same. We started off with some weeks of "Baby Puppy" which was primarily socialising and introduction to concepts like sit, heel, drop, not crying when tied up for a minute etc. We are now half way through Beginner Obedience which is more serious heeling, different turns, sit, stay, drop, recall etc. Then when this is done, we can go onto what our club calls "Class 1". I haven't a clue what they learn in Class 1, but I am wondering if it is something similar to your bronze. Anywaym, just wanting to compare notes.

Hey and Barney has good taste re his girlfriend Frankie.;)

Congrats..Cedar just started our leadership class (basic good pet obedience)..it is so fun to watch them learn

Thank you every one, I'm pleased as punch with him. We have learnt , sit, down, stand, rollover, heel, recall, wait, back. Checking them over for like a vet visit, teeth, eyes, ears, body, privates etc. socialisation with the other puppies, socialisation with an unknown dog. Taking articles away from pup, food manners and just the basic things. I think the bronze class is a clicker class. We also played with our pups in between each bit of training. On the last day we did some games with them, it was good.
They also need the full details on the dog tag, otherwise they would not pass.
Will be pleased when he takes notice NOT to run to every dog though as some are a bit aggresive. That will come.:D
