Let's see if we can all pull together and get Tuffy, a ruby Cavalier, into first place! Following is the post with details:

A wonderful Cavalier is one of five finalists for the prestigious Delta Society Beyond Limits Award for Therapy Dog Pet Partners Team of the Year. Would you consider forwarding this or posting it or placing it on your chat list to encourage Cavalier people to go to the Delta Society Web site to read about this wonderful team and then cast a vote? I met the handler and the dog as we shot the video that is on the Web site … they are indeed very special. Thanks! Cross post OK, of course.

DELTA SOCIETY ANNOUNCES FIVE FINALISTS
FOR PET PARTNERS TEAM OF THE YEAR
Videos and online voting to be conducted at Delta Web site;
15 other teams nominated for additional Beyond Limits Awards

Five very special therapy dog teams from across the country have been announced as finalists for Delta Society’s Annual Beyond Limits Awards as Pet Partners Team of the Year.

These teams are active as volunteers in many settings, including a cancer clinic, pediatrics and intensive care units at hospitals, a women’s and children’s domestic abuse center, rehabilitation centers for emotionally disturbed children, reading programs in schools and libraries, and in Critical Incident Stress Management situations such as first responders, line-of-duty deaths and the tragedy at Virginia Tech last spring.

The finalists:

• Sarah Allen, Tumwater, WA and Alfie (Miniature Poodle)
• Maggie Crawford, Pasadena, CA and Madison (Golden Retriever)
• Connie Gates, Huntsville, AL and Katie (Golden Retriever)
• Monica Payson, Seattle, WA and Marley (Bullmastiff)
• Dr. Karla Rose, Sudbury, MA and Tuffy (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel)

Voting for the final winner of the Pet Partners Team of the Year is open to the public and is being conducted on the Delta Web site (www.deltasociety.org) through November 5. The Web site features biographical sketches about each of the teams and videos of them at work as volunteers in their home communities.

The winning team will be presented by John O’Hurley at the National Dog Show (Philadelphia Kennel Club) in Philadelphia on November 17.

Headquartered in Bellevue, Washington, Delta Society is celebrating its 30th year as the leading international resource for the human-animal bond, “improving human health through service and therapy animals.” Delta’s annual awards recognize the best of the very best of its more than 10,000 volunteer teams that visit in more than 3,000 hospitals, schools, extended care, hospice and health care facilities in every state each year.

In addition, 15 other teams are finalists for other Beyond Limits Awards: Pet Partners Rookie Team of the Year (less than two years as a volunteer), Pet Partners Team of the Year with a Shelter or Rescue Animal, and Animal Assisted Therapy Professional of the Year. Informational sketches are on the Delta Web site for each of these finalists, but voting is limited to registered Delta Society Pet Partners.

In addition, Delta Society announced its selection of the winner in the Pet Partners Affiliate category recognizing a group of visiting Pet Partners who work together to offer animal-assisted activity/therapy programs in their community: Elderpet of Durham, NH. Information about Elderpet is available on the Delta Web site.

Bruce: I did not see your post and post the same thing in the General Discussion section. Hope with this in two places we will garner some votes!
