Snowsuit and boots

We live in Minnesota and are very active in the winter with Abbey and Gus. As a result, we've been through various boots and jackets until we've found those that work really, really well.

For boots, we use Muttluks...and they actually stay on! http://www.muttluks.com/

For winter wear, this snowsuit is amazing. It's shown with a harness worn over it. The company is great too, they send me a swatch of the fabric so I could see just how wind resistant and water repelent it is:

Actually, I'm ordering the jogger for each this week, as it's perfect for the cooler temps of fall and spring--the arms are what sold us, it just keeps their legs and whole body so much warmer.

Does Abbey wear the Muttluks when you take her on walks? One of my neighbors just ordered them for his Chihuahua and she refuses to wear them; he also says they're pretty stiff. I was going to order some for Miles, but for $50+ he better wear them! Any feedback would be appreciated!

Has anyone else had any luck with getting your Cavs to wear boots? I'm concerned about salt and snow/ice hurting his precious feetsies! We live in Chicago, so the winters seem to drag on FOREVER!

We have some pretty wicked winters here temps get as low as -30 celcius.
Both Dudley and Darby wear the Muttlucks they are wonderful, I don't find them stiff at all. You need to make sure that you don't get them too big, both my boys wear xxsmall they stay on wonderfully providing that you put them on tightly.

They have winter coats too, and their feet stay dry.
They thoroughly enjoy playing in the snow, here is a recent pic of Darby having a fun with his muttlucks on. Dudley saying get me outta here.

I would never use any other boot than Muttlucks.

We are guilty as charged as far as muttlucks lovers go The salt does hurt their feet, but my Kosmo also seems to be bothered by cold snow on his feet for too long *he has a very thin coat too*. The size mine wear is XXS - I chose that size because even though it's kind of small, they will come off if they are too big. I've never had a problem with the boots falling off, but I do make sure to pull them tight.

(PS - they really keep their feet DRY too, but you need the fleece lined! )

Linda I had my post open for a while I didn't realize you answered this before me.. I'm ROFL at Darby whipping up the snowball!!!

They both wear them, but it was about a 3 day process to get them used to them. When we first got them we put them on in the house and offered lots and lots of treats! They wore them for about 10 minutes, while getting treats the entire time, then we did about 15 minutes the next day and made them walk across the room, etc. for their treats. Then the next day we took them outside with them on, and they got treats the entire walk. Now they're used to them know it means they're going out.

Thanks Jen, Jen and Linda! I'm going to order the Muttluks for Miles - I was debating between XXS and XS (he's about 15 lbs and 8.5 months old), but after reading your emails I'm going to go with the XXS so they don't fall off. He's so squirmy, it was hard to measure him with their sizing chart! Thanks again, the pictures are ADORABLE!!! I hope Miles is able to enjoy the snow as much as your cavs do!
