• If you're a past member of the board, but can't recall your password any more, you don't need to set up a new account (unless you wish to). As long as you recall your old login name, you can log in with that user name then select 'forgot password' and the board will email you at your registration email, to let you reset your password.

WARNING: fake password update email

If you have received an email from serviceATcavaliertalk.com stating that your password has been updated successfully, and which contains a couple of files you are supposed to open, DELETE THIS EMAIL IMMEDIATELY.

DO NOT OPEN THE FILES!! They are executable program files that have malicious code.

This is NOT a real email from the board, but rather a spoof email using a faked email address to look like its from the board. They probably will try to massmail it to any cavaliertalk.com email address they can make up (computers will generate millions of emails on the chance that some will be real addresses).

You will never get a password update notification unless you have yourself applied to change your password. And it is always wise never to open any attached file that doesn't seem right, especially anything that ends in .exe. (y)

People with up to date antivirus software are most likely fine anyway but best practice is to never even risk opening such a file or email.

I received one of these and don't know if anyone else has but want to warn people just in case.

Thanks for the warning Karlin, my email is currently downloading a really big email (Goodness only knows what that is ) so will watch out for any bogus looking one's!! (y)
