I asked this on a general dog chat list and no one had any insight, so I thought that this might be a cavalier thing--I hope that I'm not violating cross-posting rules.
The other night, after I came home from a business trip, the dog was very excited and thrilled to see me (oh, so flattering). She raced around and jumped up and down for about 15 minutes and finally settled in my lap. After a few minutes she wanted to get up so I put her on the floor and she walked around, completely calm, but like she was a little kid on ice skates for the first time. She just couldn't get her footing, her legs were going in all directions as she walked around the room, but otherwise was completely normal--not stressed or upset, responded to us, knew where she was, didn't drool or have a bowel movement, etc. She didn't fall down, didn't pull her head to one side, nothing like what I saw on the videos on the episodic falling website. After about 10 minutes she lay down in her basket, rested there for a few minutes, and then popped up like nothing happened.
The next morning we had to take her to the vet for something else. We asked about this and the vet was baffled.
Does anyone have any insight?
