• If you're a past member of the board, but can't recall your password any more, you don't need to set up a new account (unless you wish to). As long as you recall your old login name, you can log in with that user name then select 'forgot password' and the board will email you at your registration email, to let you reset your password.

Can someone clarify when the socialization (sp) period is??

Charlie had his vaccines delayed due to being too poorly and even though I tried to take him everywhere with me i'm sure this has affected him as he's really shy of other dogs.

It looks like Bailey's final vaccine will be delayed too so I want to be prepared this time and try harder with him

I'm sure that there is a critical window for a puppy to be socialized, but I also think that socialization should be ongoing for the lifetime of our dogs. IMHO
 
The puppy and adult dog should always be socialised as much as possible all thru its life, with care taken about the nature of the dogs s/he is meeting and the appropriateness of play. There isn't any definite socialisation period per se but the earlier the better. There are fear periods though when you can reverse the puppy's confidence if it has bad experiences. A good puppy guidebook will lay out the puppy development stages for you. (y).
