Would you use a dog creche?

If there was a Dog Creche available where the following was offered, would you use it?

- Day Care at about €18 per whole day (8am - 6pm)
- Puppy training (toilet, socialisation etc)
- Safe and secure facility
- Trained professional staff

If so how many days would you use it for and what would you want to get from it?

Just bouncing ideas off ye all.

Assuming you mean within Ireland.

If I had one, I'd use a service for a puppy, definitely, on days when I had to be out. It would have been good to have something available when Jaspar was small. I'd use it for the adults if I were going to be out for a full day.

Yeah i would use it but it would have to be in a good location!

What i would wanna get out of it is a socialised puppy and help with toilet training.

I would definitely use it if I were going somewhere for the day or just wanted to get the housework done without two scallywags getting under my feet all day

By creche, do you mean doggy day care? There is one a few blocks from my work. I go home every day at mid-day to relieve Barkley and give him some hugs, but if I knew that I had an all-day meeting and couldn't get away, sure, I'd use it! I've already checked it out and it's a nice place.

They do overnight boarding as well but it is REALLY expensive. I'm going out of town tomorrow for a few days, and it is actually cheaper for me to take Barkley with me and pay the daily pet fee at the motel than to leave him behind and board him.

I'd use it....if you'd set up in San Diego, California for me!!

On my way!

We are considering the creche idea. I will keep you all posted. All of your opinions really matter so please be honest and tell me what you think, ideas etc

probably not. I'm not familar with this concept at all. I would be worried about my dog getting attacked.

Just took my girl in to a doggy hotel that also has a very successful creche. Great place, lots of dogs of all sizes. One thing that was very nice was that she has different spaces for different dogs, with gates in between, such that small dogs are together, old dogs are together and large dogs are together. The room for old dogs also has low, old sofas that they can flop down on.

On the hotel side, the dogs sleep in the "old dogs" room at night with the sofas and windows out to the yard rather than in kennel runs like at some other places.

I think that the nicest thing about the place is that it has a very home atmosphere for the dogs instead of a shop or kennel atmosphere.

Good luck!

I would love to be able to take my doggy to a day creche, but honestly, I cannot afford 18 Eur a day 5 days a week. Perhaps if there was a special rate for regular customers?
We usually leave our pets in a kennel when we travel for about 8 Eur a day each, but they feed them, walk them etc We would do this twice a year or so for two weeks at a time.
It's a great idea, though. I wish there were more pet creches available in Dublin

Doggie Daycare is big here in NYC. It really helped Winston with housetraining as I work a full day and didn't have time to come home to let him out. With daycare he gets at least 2 1hr trips to the dog park and relief walks as needed. Here in NYC it's $40USD/day at most places, with certain "package" discounts available. Not cheap, but worth it for some of us! Good luck iwth your venture...
