Scratching legs after IV shave

Hi....

Wyatt was just in the hospital and had the back of both his front legs shaved. Now he's really licking them a lot and worrying at the back of one of the legs. Any suggestions about what might help him....short of putting socks on him!!!!

Good questions! I guess I'd be thinking of socks or vet wrap if he is really biting at his legs. If that doesn't work it may be that an ecollar is the only way to stop the biting. I'd imagine the legs will get less itchy after a couple of days when the hair grows in slightly.

Charlie has shaved areas on both front legs from his surgery. He licks the areas sometimes, but hasn't done any damage.

You might want to try this self adhesive bandage tape - I keep several bright colored rolls of it on hand for first aid. http://www.petco.com/product/15480/S...dage-Tape.aspx

That tape is vet wrap -- really useful stuff!
