Charlie had acupuncture today

This afternoon Charlie had an acupuncture treatment at the vets. He was so relaxed during his treatment that he fell asleep on my lap. We're noticing such an improvement in him from earlier today. He was having pain episodes, and his vet saw what it's like for him when he's having a bad day. The vet has also prescribed Tramadol as needed for pain.

We have decided to take him for weekly acupuncture with his vet, and twice a week rehab, where he will get massage, range of motion, and strengthening exercises with a specialist.

That's really interesting, Cathy. I know Dr Harrington in Washington state recommends acupuncture for SM dogs and Clare Rusbridge lists it as a possible treatment to consider.

This is making me a believer! He had 20 tiny needles, one was in the top of his head, several down both sides of his spine, and several in his right hind leg. After he slept for awhile, he woke up and was walking better than ever before. It's just like one of his best days now, when earlier he was having pain! He was sooo relaxed!

Makes me wonder if I should try it. (getting older is he**)
Cathy, thanks for keeping us all up to date on how Charlie is doing. You are all in my thoughts-- Sandy

This is so encouraging!
We've been looking into it for Abbey. My sister takes her 13 yr old lab to a vet for accupuncture at the U of M and has had great results. We're thinking of seeing how Abbey does with her. I figure it can't hurt.

OMGoodness, Charlie is walking around this morning like a normal dog!!

It may be the combination of the acupuncture and Chocolate's breeder gave Charlie a lovely pedicure yesterday evening. I'm not good as her when it comes to clipping nails, so she cut Charlie's nice and short. I'm sure that's helping too.
