Wallis - one year later

This time last year we were told that Wallis would only live a few weeks at the most. I guess the vet looked in the wrong place and didn't read her expiration date correctly!

She had chest xrays done last week (and sent to the specialist) because she's coughing a bit more. Luckily, there is no more fluid around her heart, no more enlargement than before so we treated with antibiotics. After watching her struggle for footing on our tile and hardwood floors for so long I got the vet's attention about the pain she's in when I told him that we had discussed putting her on NSAID's (not good for her heart) and looking at quality of the life she has left instead of quantity. She's on tramadol now, which doesn't strengthen her rear end but makes her not care about the pain as much.

And this same dog got out of the yard the other day (with Roxie) and was walking down the middle of the street. When she saw Bubba coming she actually ran! We've had to learn to appreciate each day we have with her and not keep looking for the end.

Here's a recent picture of her:

A few wrinkles in the forehead, hates to hold her head up for pictures but she's still Wallis.

So glad to see an update on Wallis :luv: she is so precious and beautiful.
You're right to treasure each new day with her and enjoy every moment.
Looks like Roxie is keeping Wallis on her toes :*nana::*nana:

Me and the girlies send lots of hugs :lotsaluv::hug::hug::hug:

oh bless her that's wonderful news that she is doing so well.

Glad you persuaded your vet to give her pain relief - I'm sure that has made her more comfortable.

There are often reports on teh MVD list that the dogs actually improve whilst taking antibiotics so hopefully that will be the case with Wallis too.

Just enjoy every day, build some more precious memories and know we are hear for you when you need to talk...

Gentle hugs for Wallis
