Hi
Poppys diet is going slow .s:(o can i pls ask other forum members who have used diets what they were :(

They should lose pretty slowly -- it's not healthy for a dog to lose weight quickly (just like people). Lily lost 6 lbs over 4 months. Faster than that is too fast -- and that was a pretty rigorous diet with at least an hour of walks and exercise a day.

The only way for a dog to lose weight is: feed less, exercise more. If the dog isn't losing weight, it is getting too much food/treats, not enough exercise or both.

Check with a vet about amounts being fed etc -- this is much safer than cutting back too severely. A dog that isn't losing weight while on a diet should see a vet anyway -- the dog may have a medical issue that makes it very hard to drop weight, like a thyroid problem, and it is important to check if this is the case.
