    Default Rupert

This is the hardest post I've ever had to write -

Our precious, gorgeous, wonderful Rupert was given his wings last night

Everyone who met him fell in love with him - he could be so naughty sometimes but that was all part of his charm

He has touched so many lives - it's all his fault that we fell in love with the breed . He was our first Cavalier, and the only one we have had live with us from a tiny puppy.

His passing was very peaceful - he was ready to go - and although we would never have been ready to say goodbye, we know we did the right thing.

After the others had had the chance to say goodbye, we put him up on the chair in the sitting room. We didn't want to leave him on his own - or to sleep in the bedroom without him, so we pulled the sofa bed out and slept in here with him too

I just can't stop crying , it's not fair especially so soon after losing Kyla {the end of August} but I like to think that they are together again.

Rupert was 12 1/2 on Thursday - we are so lucky to have shared that many happy years together.

Please indulge me a few photos:

from our wee precious naughty puppy

He always had a sense of humour

    Loved the snow

but wasn't impressed with the ice balls

    Hated bath time

Could be well behaved on occasion

With his Mum when we went to visit - he was about 2

We made some Christmas cards this year featuring this photo of Rupert

Ah Nicki, how sad I am to read of Ruperts passing. He was a bonnie lad and that Christmas card pic is just beautiful. It is never easy no matter how much time we have to prepare. I lost, as you , know my Kiki and Doogle within one day of each other and it broke my heart.

Rupert had a wonderful life with wonderful people in a super home. My heart goes out to you pet.
Take care and hugs for you all. Rupert sweetie... play happy at the Bridge with all our babes. Bless you.

Rupert in his picture on the sand and the Christmas card appears to have that wonderful wisdom of the old but with a secret humor reserved for humans. The Card shows such an awesome Cavalier-so hard to part with his soul. He clearly imprinted your hearts and he has not left them. Would that words could ease your burden but know you gave him a beautiful life and a gentle passing.

I always called myself Rupert's Grandma.

He was one of my Monty's puppies, and I probably met him before Nicki did.
I remember going to see this really beautiful litter of puppies, in fact I was so impressed that I told my friend & she bought one of the bitch puppies.

Rupert was so like Monty in looks, and I think in personality. A cavalier with a sense of humour, a touch of naughtiness, a habit of emptying the wastepaper basket, and sometimes deciding to do just what he wanted, never mind what you said.

Wonderful, wonderful, loving pets & companions.

I had the pleasure of meeting dear Old Man Rupert again just a few weeks ago. He was still beautiful, such a credit to Nicki, who so cherished him.

No dog could have been more loved.

Thank you so much for your wonderful and kind words - I truly wish I could have shared Rupert with you all. He loved everyone he met, and was just such a funny, naughty, adorable character, as Margaret says - he caused chaos wherever he went!!

We were so lucky that Rupert was well when we visited with Grandma - he loved seeing you again and thank you for looking after us so well

Rupert enjoyed visiting, as Fran said we had a trip to see her too, and were honoured to meet precious Cailean, who's now reunited with Rupert . Rupert caused chaos there, gave the poor cats a bit of a hard time - sorry about that - but it was lovely to see him full of mischief!

No-one can ever replace him - he was a dog in a million - but we were blessed that he chose to spend his life with us. He has only ever known love - came from a wonderful breeder with whom I am still in contact - she still has a litter sister of his, having lost the other almost 6 months ago.

The other dogs are being wonderful - Cruz always knows when I'm upset and comes over for a cuddle. Teddy has taken it worst of everyone, he is very subdued and clingy, but we're having lots of cuddles too. Poor Teddy has actually started going grey since Rupert was ill - I think sometimes we don't realise the depth of feeling they have for each other. Teddy came to us 3 1/2 years ago {he's 5 now} and Rupert had always been here for him.

    {Rupert went grey when he lost his beloved companion, Fillipa.}

I want to thank you all for all the posts and messages, and support you have shown for us over the last few weeks - it really does mean a lot to us, this is such a wonderful, caring community.

It is wonderful that you have enjoyed his photos and stories over the years, I hope to still post more photos of him, we have so many and are going through them and finding many that I would like to share with you all.
