Barking at other dogs

Hello everybody a many wishes of a Happy New Year

my nicki turned 7 months and he absolutely adores go walking, whenever we are approaching to a house where he knows a dog is living, he starts barking and looks a bit aggressive, no matter if the dog is a male or a female, does it depend on his young age? is there any tips you can suggest to correct his behaviour, if it is not right?

Thank you so much

This tends to happen with dogs that are not meeting enough other dogs so they get overexcited, especially around this age. Have you taken him to a rewards-based obedience class yet where he gets to meet lots of other dogs? Do you get him out to meet dogs in parks etc so he learns other dogs are fun, not threatening or scary? :)

If you go to a class the trainer can give you specific advice for working on a problem like this.

There's lots of advice on socialising here.

Also your dog is reaching adolescence when problems can start if the dog is not well-managed. Read more here:

My mom started using the "look at me" command and feeding her dog really yummy treats every time they passed another dog. Her dog went from barking and yelling like a maniac to looking at my mom expectantly for a treat when they pass other dogs.
