A little worried, looking for a little info?

Hi guys, don't want to sound too much like a drama queen, but more than a little concerned about our Lucy, She has an appointment to see the vet 1st thing tomorow, but id thought id put up a post for a little guidance/advice/or just any info you think might be relevant?

Over the last couple of days, Lucy has been a little shivery, and we just put it down to the colder weather we're getting this week, and put her wee coat on for walks,

However, earlier on this afternoon, I was sitting at the computer, and looked round to see her sitting in the doorway trembling like mad, I scooped her up onto my lap,to try and calm her down, and try to set her at ease, but this was way more than shivers, this was almost like a fit, full body trembling, and she was whining and kind of snorting with it, after a little while, she settled down and it seemed to pass, so I called the vet and set up the earliest appointment I could get, i'm pretty certain it wasn't anything like an epelectic fit, as she was till fully awawre of me and her surroundings, but it deffinately freaked her out, whatever it was she went thru, I have never seen any of my dogs over the years, past and present go thru this kind of thing.......the best way to describe it is, if anyone has ever seen a drug/alchohol addict withdrawing, and the severe shakes they get......that is what it was like....she was rattling!!

She's calm at the mo, tail wagging away, lying watching us all go about the house, but she's definately not 100% herself,

I'm sorry to waffle on folks, just as I said never seen anything like this in my dogs, and quite upset at the minute

Just read your post R, and although I don't know what the matter could be, as I have never seen this before, I'm sure you have done the right thing by calling the vet.

Do let us know how you get on.

Let us know what the vet says. Maybe poisoning? I hope she feels better soon. :flwr:

A friend's dog ate slug pellets and he had tremors, but I think he had other symptoms as well.

Hello RJ, as some other said, could it be poisoning? My dogs got ahold of walnuts and they were shivering like they were freezing. For them, it was very acute and they were also vomiting for part of that time. Do you have an emergency vet? They could run a blood panel and make sure there aren't signs of poisoning or kidney or liver problems (which can happen with poisoning).

I hope that all is well and she will be fine.

Hi guys, thanks for your replies, and thoughts, have to admit I'd thought about poisoning too....but Lucy's not guilty of picking things up on a walk......Jake on the other hand....well that's a different story....typical Lab:rolleyes:

Got on fine at the Vet this morning, we're very lucky, he's a great guy, and has always looked after our dogs, any way he checked her out thoroughly, took some blood, and sounded her heart, and was content that she's ok, said it could poss, have been some kind of virus, but he'l be back in touch with the results of the bllod work asap, in the meantime, we,ve to monitor her closely incase it happens again, and if so straight back,

What he did tell us tho, is that he could detect a very slight murmur in her heart, so that is also going to be looked into in more detail, his wife listened 1st and wasn't sure, so she called him in, and he's a heart specialist, and picked up on it straight away, he says however it appears a very low grade murmur, and that's why his wife wasn't certain what she was hearing, Lucy's still very young, she'l be 3 in April, he says there's no need for any meds at the mo, and that he wants to keep an eye on her for us with regular check ups in between her vacs

I'm glad Lucy is ok and it isn't anything urgent. Hope her heart will be ok - at least she has a good vet to keep an eye on her. Sally sometimes gets the shivers when she is afraid of something. It happens around bonfire night with the fireworks and if we are cooking something under the grill such as bacon or sausages that spit. She starts to tremble and its quite scary but then it stops on its own. Just a thought. Hope her bloods are ok
