• If you're a past member of the board, but can't recall your password any more, you don't need to set up a new account (unless you wish to). As long as you recall your old login name, you can log in with that user name then select 'forgot password' and the board will email you at your registration email, to let you reset your password.

Board disconnect: well that was weird!!

My hosting service did a server upgrade and it seems to have caused problems for a few sites including the board (but oddly not subdomains of cavaliertalk like the SM site).

Not really sure what happened but it seems to have swapped server spaces -- the board files were over in the wrong section of the server. At any rate I needed to do a minor board upgrade anyway so once I realised this was the problem I just uploaded the latest software version to the right section and the board reconnected to the database. Strange! I still need to sort the smilies.

Ok uploaded smilies and some work; others don't. Have to reinstall the blog software and also see that the who's online section isn't working. have work tomorrow most of the day o may be tomorrow evening before I get to these minor things. (y)

If people note any other oddities or glitches please let me know.

Man, Karlin, you gotta quit doing that! I always assume sabotage when I try to visit the site and I can't.

What a relief. I thought we'd lost you forever! :*bay:I was frantically re-entering my bookmark for the site, thinking it was a problem at my end. Thanks for jumping right on it. (y)

Thanks for sorting it so quickly Karlin :thnku: I'm sure we can all put up with minor glitches for a day or so as long as the main board is here!!

Ditto Rod - I always think the "nasty" breeders have developed their computer skills and found out how to crash the board

I know i ame on last night and it said black knight or something i was like 'WHAT!' What actually happened? Does anyone know

I know it was the server upgrade that caused the problem at my hosting company.

Gosh that would be exciting, wouldn't it? Going by the level of competence shown by the late-90s website 'skills' on some of the websites produced by the group and as displayed on the national club websites in the UK and US (one of the 'designers' having had his own site hacked with a porn site redirect a few months ago -- not me, I swear!), this doesn't really keep me up at night. :rotfl:

i thought we had lost the site as well. i was hoping Karlin had saved all our email addy's so she could get in contact withus. i am grateful to have it back
hugs

Yeah it is redirecting to my business site that hasn't been properly uploaded as I haven't had time since I changed hosting companies (that's the text of the opening page). Can't figure out why it isn't redirecting to the board index, but I cannot tinker with the files properly as I am in work. Should get that sorted tonight.

Hmmm just tried setting the redirect at server level and it just goes to a placeholder page now. Must be a file somewhere that is causing the problem; have to look at it this eve.

Ok something is still a bit funky with the software upload as profiles are not showing correctly in my master control panel. So at some point in the next day or so will reinstall as I had this happen once before with an earlier version of the board. Hopefully that will give us back the 'who's online' feature too.
