Worrying news for Charlie

Hi all

Just wanted to update on Charlies heart murmor problem.
We went to see the Cardiologist today and he has rated the murmor at more a 4/5 so worse than originally thought.
We are booked on for the scan this time next week so we will know more then.

He has given 3 possible outcomes
a) a shunt (something to do with the umbilical chord and liver)
b) a hole in the heart
c) murmor in the mitral valve

im hoping its A or B just because they can be fixed not anything else

But we shall wait and see what next Wednesday brings

Poor Charlie (and you by default). I hope the outcome isn't as bad as it could be. Best of luck with him on Wednesday, fingers crossed it will be ok for him. I'm sure the week will drag by for you while you are waiting for the scan.

So sorry to read about Charlie and hope everything goes well with the scan, how old in Charlie, we are going through a similar thing with my boy he had an heart xray last Friday and has to go back to vets for a heart scan this Friday, he has a Grade 4 murmur, but they picked up on his check up that his heart sounded strange, it a real worry with them.

He will be 10 months tomorrow!! Thats the problem!!

Oh I am really sorry, that is so young, Jasper is 9 1/2 yrs and shows no signs of his problem, he is on meds and still eats well and loves his walks and is not over weight we just hope that the vets are just taking precautions for the future, does Charlie `s murmur affect him much.

Not at all he has sooooo much energy he bounces off the walls (LITERALLY!!)
He is very thin and although he needs to put on some weight it wont be as much as we anticipated for that reason xx

How very sad for such a young little chap, he is very lucky you rescued him, I am sure he knows you love him which will give him strength.
