In this week's Dog World, are remark's made by Professor S Dean at the BVA Annual Congress.

This was in answer to the Question ,What Vets Can do to Help?

One mention he made caught my eye,.

That of ,most importantly linking a Diagnosis in a Pure Bred Dog to a Registration Number or a Pedigree and Reporting the Incidence to the Health Schemes would be a Real Step Forward

He went on to say, providing case Reports to Health Committees or the KC ,raises issues of Client confidentiality, but all Dog Folk sign such disclaimers regularly when we Register our dogs.

So is there a Problem?

What a sensible suggestion ,if this had been orginized years ago ,would the MVD Problem in our Breed be in state it's in to-day, as many ,many Vets say about so many Cavaliers they see with Heart Trouble.

Hopefully if this Scheme gets up and running ,the the SM Problem in Cavaliers will be being Recognized ,Vets will now be made aware of how serious it is in Cavaliers.

Those would be helpful measures all right. :) But this all needs to be part of a comprehensive programme to tackle breed health issues, otherwise it just becomes a paperwork exercise.

That's so right Karlin.

It was great to read about the Cavalier Talk 4,000 Membership, with this amount of Cavalier Pet Owners, surely we can get things done for our Cavaliers Health Problems.
