This explains the issues perfectly! So many things can go wrong.

If you're a past member of the board, but can't recall your password any more, you don't need to set up a new account (unless you wish to). As long as you recall your old login name, you can log in with that user name then select 'forgot password' and the board will email you at your registration email, to let you reset your password.

Karlin - an excellent article and exactly why we do not have one. If we ever did, I would only use it with supervision.
Furthermore, many hunting breeds ( beagles, basset hounds & labs are the breeds I have known to do this) are known to go through the fence when prey drive kicks in. They don't notice or are willing to suffer the small shock to go after whatever has excited them. And then, after the thrill of the hunt, they will not go back across the fence line when they've calmed down.
