This is interesting about health test results on KC registration certificates and good to see the Sheltie Breed Council being proactive and requested it, and the following from this address.

Sheltie DNA testing schemes announced

THREE new DNA testing schemes for the Shetland Sheepdog have been approved by the Kennel Club at the request of the breed council.

They are for CEA/CH, von Willebrands disease type V111 and Ivermectin sensitivity MDR1.

Further details about the tests can be obtained from www.optigen.com (for CEA/CH) and at www.laboklin.co.uk for the other two.

From January 1, copies of all future test certificates issued by these laboratories for these diseases will be sent directly to the KC where the test result will be added to the dog’s details on the registration database. This will trigger the publication of the test result in the next available breed records supplement, and the result will also appear on any new registration certificate issued for the dog and on the registration certificates of any future progeny.

Owners who have already had their dogs DNA tested for these conditions can send copies of the test certificate to the KC so the data can be added to the dog’s registration details.

If the owner includes the original registration certificate for the dog, not a copy, a new registration certificate will be issued free of charge with the DNA result on it.

DNA test certificates should be sent to Health and breeder services, the Kennel Club, 1-5 Clarges Street, London W1J 8AB.
