Post requires moderator approval?

I registered yesterday, and my account was activated today, after I'd received the email.

Went to post today, in Introductions, and it said my post would have to be approved by a moderator. When I tried to email the forum to query this, the email bounced back.

Is this normal, that new members' posts have to be approved first? If so, for how long does this "approval" period last?


EDIT: I see my post in Introductions is now there!

It's just the first few posts, just to ensure that we do not have offensive posts and spam appearing on the board.

Obviously the moderators are all volunteers and fit the board in around their lives - so please bear with us if sometimes it takes a while for someone to see your post.

Thanks for explaining! I was just a bit confused as the email bounced my question back, saying my email address was rejected by the recipient domain. Also I couldn't see it on the FAQ. No problem now though!

Hi: Your email bouncing back would be a separate issue -- not sure why that would have happened but that would have been the hosting service servers not recognising the domain and bouncing it back. I have no control over that but Nicki explained everything else.

Hi, I'm a new member with a question for the forum, but I cannot post it -- says I do not have access/permission to do so. I've got a sick Cav who's also teething and none of my searches have yielded answers. Thus, I would like to post a new thread with my questions for the members.

Can one of the Admins please help?

I've just approved your post. We strongly recommend that if you have health concerns, you at least speak to your vet if not make an appointment, rather than wait for an answer on here.

Thanks, I know that. She was just at the vet. This was more of a breed-specific question that anything else, as I've owned dogs before.

I juwt wanted to take a second to thank you all for the things you do behind the scenes to make this a great, family friendly board for us.

I've been on other boards where posts were not pre-approved, and the spam got really bad sometimes. If you haven't been on a message board before, you probably wouldn't think that could be a problems, but on a message board as popular as Cavalier Talk, I'm sure there are some people who try to get through who don't want to post about dogs, but other things that are money making ventures for them - be it pornography or just links for Canadian pharmacies or other things they are trying to push to make a buck.

I know it's often a thankless job so just wanted to take a second to say Thank you for all you do to make this a great community.
