Lewis - gorgeous young Ruby boy.

MRI scanned by his responsible, health focused breeder. Unfortunately he did not scan well enough to bred on from, so his breeder is removing him from her breeding program and would like to find a loving, caring home for him.

The breeder does not want any money for him, instead is asking for a donation of £200 to Rupert's Fund

Lewis is indeed a beautiful boy and I fully agree Clockpelters are a complete responsible health focused breeder.Prior to my Lily joining me last August I contacted them and would certainly have purchased from her ,but they had no no black and tans available at that time .

This is one of the thoughtful and creative ways breeders are helping support Rupert's Fund -- scans from which have already helped support some very important breakthroughs on the genome project.

A donation of this size will fully fund a scan for an older cavalier with some left over -- and is very generous. So both breeder and new owner make a significant contribution and a lovely dog gets a loving new home.

This is certainly a good idea and I hope will be copied. Not to be forgotten also is the other party in this arrangement, the person taking on this lovely boy.
If breeders are to move forward cautiously ,of course using all the protocols and knowledge they can muster, they still will breed the puppy that develops a problem. While responsible breeders will keep or take back such pups ,it could mean their breeding plans to help the breed will have to be curtailed. Most hobby breeders are limited ,only keeping the number of dogs they can look after properly.
This is where I think breeders and cavalier lovers can work together ,both need each other . Owners that are willing to take these dogs on ,that we hope will have a good quality of life but may not are vital. Their help in this dreadful situation must be valued and appreciated.I for one thank them immensely.
