2 Year Old For Sale With Murmur

Saw a gorgeous 2 year old Blenheim boy for sale local to me advertised as having a murmur that requires no treatment and being sold as owner no longer has time for a dog.
Contacted the seller to see what grade the murmur was (expected a low grade in a 2 year old) and was told it's a grade 4.
I have 2 older dogs with grade 4 murmurs and both are on Fortekor. I'm surprised the lttle fellow isn't being medicated and to be honest in my opinion it's as if he's being sold because he does need medication sooner rather than later. Maybe the owner cannot afford the meds. If this is the case isn't it better to be honest?

I was paying £22 a month for 2.5mg for one dog and £35 a month for 5mg for the other from my vet. I now pay £10 for a six month prescription and buy online at £10 a month for 2.5mg and £20 for 5mg. For a small dog thats only £0.38 a day!!

How can people 'get rid' of a dog that can be cared for for less than the price of a daily newspaper?

I think the seller may be a breeder. Obviously he is not cost effective to keep. They only wanted £100 for him but in my opinion he should be offered for free with a donation to charity of £100.

Agreed. But that won't happen...unfortunately it's all about money. The poor baby! Pray he finds a good home.

I have an update for you on this dog and it's not good news.
I had a phone call tonight from the breeder I have got most of my cavs from. She called to stop me from making a mistake. She knows this dog and the breeder.
The dog is the son of one of my dogs, his murmur is 4-5 and he was on Fortekor but was taken of it a few months ago. The woman is selling the dog because he is overly dominant, a humper and has been involved in 2 bloodbath fights with other dogs recently.
She told me that this dog may kill one of mine if I had him.
She also told me about the conditions this woman keeps her cavs, cockers and labs in and to be honest they are disgusting.
One cav was found dead when she came home from 'socialising' as she had left 18 dogs locked in a kitchen. She puts ill animals in the shed to die and keeps 4 labs in 1 cage with no bedding or water.
I don't know if my friend the breeder has reported this but she has told me that she does go over to this woman's house on a regular basis to check on the animals and has taken quite a few cavs and labs of her that she believes are in danger.
I feel like I should do something about this woman but don't know if I can. The only evidence I have is anecdotal and if the RSPCA turn up on her door she will think my friend is responsible. My friend is a very good, responsible breeder who worships her animals so she must have a valid reason for not reporting this matter.

I am considering contacting Hillside Animal Sanctuary who conduct covert investigations in to animal abuse.

What are your thoughts?

Hi

Pls contact them ASAP in the morning ,pl,pls and any other authorities you see that may help these poor dogs.

For the sake of these poor dogs, please report this to the authorities. Those poor souls cannot speak for themselves.

Sorry, I can't imagine any reason for not reporting this if she is leaving sick animals to die in a shed.

I agree with Brian. I would contact someone , It's heartbreaking to think any animals are treated in this way.

I have spoken to the lady who runs Hillside Animal sanctuary. This is the sanctuary that did the covert investigations in to the Welsh puppy farms for Channel 5 and Bernard Matthews for Tonight with Trevor McDonald.
Although the RSPCA would be the logical choice, I felt that a covert visit would be more beneficial.
The sanctuary is local to me and the lady in question which is good.

I have passed over all the inormation I have been given and have stressed that it is only anecdotal and would need to be verified.

I will keep you all updated

Hopefully something good will come of this.

well done for speaking up!! It's very easy to give advice but not always so easy to act on it!!

You've done exactly the right thing - those poor poor dogs it makes me so sad to think that people can treat their animals in such a way...x
