well the poor mite went under the knife of Dr Malcom Ness today ,she was classed as grade 2 , they have rang to say all went really well and hopefully we can bring her home tomorrow so hopefully in a few weeks she will be as right as rain ,the other three are very quiet as they allways are when one is missing even lucy who has settled right in and feels like she has always been part of the clan ,she is full of it after being spayed and an umbilical hernia sorted out at the same time .will post mischa's update tomorrow when she comes home fingers crossed

Hi

We all send our best wishes ,pls keep us all updated once my poor Rosie recovers from her disc problem a patella op is next .

It must be a huge relief to have that over and done with.Best wishes to Mischa for a speedy recovery. It's great to read that all has gone smoothly during the surgery.

Home hurray

well all went really well and we picked mischa up at 3 today ,mr ness was really pleased with how well she has come through it and said the whole thing went really really well ,so now we have a few days till swelling and stiffness starts to ease off but she is walking around slowly and stiffly poor mite but she seems to be coping with it ok .
got a shock when we picked her up though never thought about them having to shave her !!!!! she goes to get the dressing off at our vets next week then the stitches come out the week after

as you can see she isnt going to win crufts at the mo lol and hils may have to knit her some wooly draws !!! but on the whole she is doing great the other three come home from grans tomorrow so we'll have to watch they dont myther her but they where fine with each other after they where spayed so we dont expect any issues,
she has eaten some ham (her fav if nothing else on the go ha ha ) and she has scooched (peed ! ) no number 2 yet but its been 2 days nearly since her last meal so to be expected
so hope fully in a months time when she goes back to mr ness for a check up all will be well
thanks for the kind comments and will continue updating with her progress

Y'know, that doesn't look too bad.Is she being a cooperative patient?
The shaving must have been a bit of a shock to the system, she looks a little like chinese crested:p.
Now that she's safely home, she can only go from strength to strength. What a great little cavalier to do so well.

yes she is being really good i think the problem will come as the soreness wears off and we have to try and stop her overdoing things

day five !!!!!!!

well she is doing really well and although the last two days have been a nightmare ,she wants to do everything the others do and she is going through the itchy phase , she had to have a buster collar on last night as she had a bit of chew at her dressing ,but at the mo she is forever getting told no and we are in the process of building temporary steps all over so she can get about on her own ,there are books and boxes covered in towels all over !!!! .She is getting a couple of walks on the lead a day and shows no signs of discomfort and is moving really well no limping or stiffness ,the other three seem to know something is wrong with her and keep checking out her dressings!! so if she keeps progressing like this she should be well sorted for when she goes back for her check up in 3 weeks

well day six after op itching seems to have calmed down after giving her advocate, she has had another walk today and seems to be moving really well no limp noticeable and doesnt seem to be stiff afterwards ,she managed to sneak past hils and went upstairs today with no problem the little monkey !!!!! she was carried back down though ,she is mastering the art of looking pathetic so she doesnt have to move for treats etc but we are really pleased with her progress .The other three are still being very gentle round her though seem to be intrigued with her baldy back bits ha ha .She gets the dressings taken off on thursday morning so first milestone will be then and we can see how well the wound is healing ,cant sneak a look as the dressings are stitched into place

That's great! Hope all is well when the dressing comes off. A baby gate might help keep her from climbing stairs?

we have one for the kitchen where they sleep but the door to the hall is normally closed but she blindsided hils when she went to answer the door and shot past her not to shabby for an invalid !!! but no damage done in fact some sites recommend stairs as a form of physio but gently not shooting up them as she did and a bit later into the recovery programme

well first milestone day is here off to the vets to get the dressings removed hopefully all is well underneath them !!!!!

first milestone reached the pressure pads/bandages came of today and she had her first post op check up , the vet was really pleased with her progress and there was no stiffness or pain when her knees where flexed etc. Problem we have now is the better she feels the more she tries to do !! the vet has given her some very mild sedatives for if she gets to exited ,we dont really want to go down that road but if all else fails.......

this is her right leg

and the left one

she started to nibble her feet and the vet said she is a bit sore so she told us to buy
some hibiscrub and dilute it 20:1 with water and bathe her feet 2 to 3 times a week to help with her itchyness there , i washed them earlier and it must have soothed them as she has left them alone since ,oops spoke to soon BRB.. she has gotten used to the buster collar she wears on a night but she doesnt like it and sulks for a while after it goes on but small price to pay ,well thats it for now next week stitches out

i got medivacced but mischa had her stitches out

well im back home a week early due to standing on a metal pipe coupling and doing lots of damage to my ankle but mischa is doing awesome ,her stitches are out and vet is over the moon with her progress ,she is getting a walk round the local park lake now and is moving as well as she was pre op ,she is still nibbling her feet but we think it is down to boredom as she is normally so active but we cant let her play with the others yet or do any of her other fav things which normally involve charging around, but her walk seems to sort her out and she sleeps well ,cant wait to get her off the lead and running round again ,she hasnt lost any of her muscle tone which the vet said could be a factor in her rehab so thats good but she must be getting stir crazy !!!!! will post some pictures when she lets me take some but we are so pleased with her roll on the 4th Nov and she gets the all clear

hurrah !!!!!!!! been to see the surgeon micheal ness today ,he was extremely happy with mischa's progress ,everything is better and further on than he expected so he gave her the all clear to go off leash and start running around again .Gently at first ,of course ,to start building up muscle tone but he doesnt need to see her again ,she is bursting to get out properly ,we asked him about her biting and nibbling at herself and he checked her over and he thinks its boredom so hopefully it will stop now she can get out and about ,will monitor her over the next few days to see if she stops/slows down the sessions ,we are so pleased with this guy ,micheal ness ,thank god we where refered to him ,his practice is top notch imo ,while there met a couple with a rescue heinz terrier that had been clipped by a taxi on the back leg ,their own vet wanted to amputate but a freind recomended this guy to them and 8 weeks later she is back on her feet ,a bit weak but moving around well using all 4 legs !! so the weekend is off to a great start ,thanks for all the messages of support and hope

andy ,hils and the girls
