Bonnie got her wings today

I don't know where to begin, it's been a really though couple of months with Bonnie, some of you might remember in December we were going to rehome her due to the fact that she was consistantly attacking our other cavalier Penny, but I said I wouldn't rehome her until her 'lung infection' cleared-the infection in her lungs did clear and so did her aggressive behaviour :p Penny & Bonnie had no more attacks and life was great, that was until 2 weeks ago, when Bonnie started to fail, and fail badly and quickly.

We had her back and forth to the vets, hoping that by twicking her meds that we could improve her life, but nothing was working, she was struggling to breath, she couldn't go on a walk, she couldn't get herself up or down off the sofa, she had difficulty sleeping, getting comfortable was struggle-she just looked miserable :-( We brought her back to see Paul (our vet) yesterday, who made the discovery that her liver was so swollen that it wasn't fluid in her abdomen but her liver pruding! It was time to say goodbye....I couldn't bare to do it yesterday, so we took her home for one final night of love and cuddles, her favourite food and treats...just for one last time. She was brought to Paul this morning, and I reckon she knew what lay ahead, as she refused to budge from the hall, we had to lift her to the car!

Bonnie, my beautiful old angel, went to sleep at 9.45am today, she has gotten her wings, I hope she rests peacefully and waits for us at the Rainbow Bridge...I will miss her antics, her snores, her 'not so ladylike' noises but most of all her smile and kisses xxx

Poor little Bonnie, I am so sorry for your loss. How is Penny coping without her?:lotsaluv:
I am sure you will all miss her about the place.

I'm so sorry to hear that. There wasn't any other option open to you though and you did what was best for Bonnie.I know it can't have been easy and you'll miss her terribly.

I'm so sorry.

Thank goodness she was able to spend her last few weeks living in harmony with Penny, and so her last days were with those that loved her so much.

I am so sorry
A Parting Prayer

Dear Lord, please open your gates
and call St. Francis
to come escort this beloved companion
across the Rainbow Bridge.

Assign her to a place of honor,
for she has been a faithful servant
and has always done her best to please me.

Bless the hands that send her to you,
for they are doing so in love and compassion,
freeing her from pain and suffering.

Grant me the strength not to dwell on my loss.
Help me remember the details of her life
with the love she has shown me.
And grant me the courage to honor her
by sharing those memories with others.

Let her remember me as well
and let her know that I will always love her.
And when it's my time to pass over into your paradise,
please allow her to accompany those
who will bring me home.

Thank you, Lord,
for the gift of her companionship
and for the time we've had together.

And thank you, Lord,
for granting me the strength
to give her to you now.

Amen.

So sorry to hear that you have had to give Bonnie her wings. Her memory will stay in your heart always.

It's always so sad to read of a parting of the ways, but Bonnie was so lucky that you cared for her so well and loved her enough to let her go when the time came. We'll be thinking of you all here
