B&T Markings

Good news! I had a meeting with Coco's breeder and they changed our contract to allow me to show her in all events! I am so thrilled. They said Coco is developing very nicely, only thing is they wish her head was a bit broader. I got to meet her sister and she definitely has a nicer head, but Coco has way more personality and cleaner markings.

So my question is, are Coco's marking permissible in the ring? The breeder said she is fine and they see all sorts of crazy stuff in the ring, and her sister has a definite white chin and white on her chest. Coco has like 3 white hairs on her chin, and light brown on her neck. Her neck is not white at all, but it really looks like it in pictures because of the flash.

What do you guys think, is this ok? Will judges not like my dog because of her markings?

In natural light it looks like this:

The flash makes her markings look more white:

Her marking are fine...my B/T Bentley has white on him too and we are going into the ring in May. I think structure wins over marking anyway, so if she moves nicely and has a nice face she should do fine. My main issues I am having with my boy is my own lack of experience, so it should be interesting. I have seen a few whole colours with small white marking place in the ring.

Hiya, I would say markings or not I would show your Cav just for the fun and experience :))
Marking wise my Cassie could do with a bit more tan and she has some ticking that sprouted from nowhere :/ Having said that judges look at lots of things, Cassie has good conformation, moves well, has a lovely head and a spot on bite :))
As long as you both enjoy it and remember you always take home the very best dog that is what matters.
Cassies breeder has given me lots of advice (She is smashing!!) and we mostly go to open shows that are cheap to enter, less serious and still give you a chance to meet other showers and breeders and their lovely dogs.. Cassie placed second in her class last weekend and we both enjoyed the day :)) Cassie even recognises the chair I take now and cries when it comes out!! Bless her ...xx

How did they do this? Does that not mean she removed a spay clause from the contract and she is now on open registration? That is pretty unusual. :-? I think before you consider showing you need to sort out what the growling and barking is about though and whether a show situation might stress her.

I will agree with what you say Karlin, If Cassie had any issues or appeared not to enjoy the experience I would never take her to a show. We have been to six since she was little and she has always appeared relaxed and sociable, she loves meeting the other Cavs there :) Main reason I go is to mix with Cavs and their owners and for Cassie to socialise. I have entered Barney 'Not for show' at the next one so he doesn't miss out on the whole social thing..x

I agree totally. Her appointment is coming up on Tuesday, so we will see. I signed up for pet insurance too. I already have no intention to breed her, as I just want show ring experience. I do have the intention to spay her, however I cannot participate in events if she does get spayed :\

Her barking/growling does seem to be getting better, but still crops up once in a while. I have tried to capture more on video, but it has been hard to do so. The one I got on video and posted here was her worst episode ever, and two days or something later she began her first heat..

I talked about that with the breeder and she said that girls do strange things prior and during their heats. I still am concerned though which is why I kept my appointment.

I don't think a show would stress her, she LOVES going out and about and is very confident, although the video doesn't show her confident side at all. That is why earlier I described the behavior as "bi polar"...because she normally is fantastic and fearless.

Wanted to add that in two more weeks we are taking the CGC test, so far she is the star of the class, of course :p
