How to help Rupert's Fund

There is a lot you can do without actually donating money - using http://rupertsfund.easysearch.org.uk/ for searching the internet rather than google etc and http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/ to buy items

Telling people about Rupert's Fund and about the above too will make such a difference, also publicising things like the auctions and the Cavalier Matters shop
http://www.cavaliermatters.org/shop.htm

We still have the Rupert's Fund recipe books available see here
http://www.cavaliertalk.com/forums/showthread.php?36067-Rupert-s-Fund-recipe-book-ORDERS!!

and there will soon be some more wonderful merchandise including special Rupert's Fund cards :D

Of course there are others way to help - maybe ask family and friends to sell items on E-bay, have coffee mornings etc.

I'm sure everyone can think of other ideas to help

Balloon Release

Hey Nicki,

I was wanting to do something special for Ella's birthday and one year since surgery. I thought that the balloon release in memory of Mickey was a beautiful tribute. What do you think of maybe people donating 1 - 5 pounds to have a special balloon in honor of ______ or in memory of _______ and then we could release balloons for Rupert and all the others who have lost their battle or are fighting or just support? People all over could release balloons or just have one massive release with all the balloons people donated but others can take pictures also?

Silly?

It's a lovely idea but my concern with balloons is the environmental impact...they can be dangerous for much wildlife. Trying to think of an alternative...

I saw some electronic version because of that. I feel like high school when you got carnations. Scratch that... everyone else got carnations but me. Hmm. plant a tree or a garden... Thanks for letting me put ideas out there.

Nicki, we use biodegradable chinese lanterns which look beautiful, aren't costly and don't harm the environment ( or wildlife). We used them at Christmas and on Sonny's anniversary and they were lovely.

Thanks for that Carol - I thought that was what you did . I found this company in the UK

Having read the above from Anne - thank you I had not seen that before - it would make me reluctant to even release paper lanterns now, although the above link are only paper.

I think lighting candles might be the nicest idea - if people are in the same area maybe they could combine it with an event of some kind to raise money and have a memorial?

The lanterns are great but you have to be very careful where you release them as they are so light and can drift easily if it's windy!! . We live in close proximity to Glasgow Airport and are on the flight path for the air helicopter to the hospital close by which is why we release them up the Braes.
Another thought would be if you sold special candles to be lit by people on a certain night at a certain time or people could use their own candles and maybe donate to Rupert's Fund. My cousins 40 year old hubby died suddenly in February and my cousin asked us to light a candle on the following Monday at 7pm. We all did it made a donation to a charity on his behalf and sent her the mobile photos of our burning candles. She says it gave her comfort that eveyone came together from so many different places to think of her and her hubby and a charity benefitted substantially.
