Finally got some video of Gracie's symptoms

Working on neurology appointment now at North Carolina State University Vet School. Several people recommended Dr. Olby. This video does NOT include her air scratching on walks as she, of course, has not done that when I had the camera! That's our girl!

What you do see is common scratching at her ear that goes on for a while... following by a vigorous stomping and headshaking. You see a bit near the end of scratching at her tail area, but that is not as common as the other. The ear scratching is more often her right side (our left)... but on rare occasions the other side. The air scratching is more likely to be the opposite side!

So off to join the rest of you in SM world I think... do not see that likely being PSOM, but could be both. Poor thing is just 15 months. :cry*ing: I have already cried my eyes out a few times and now doing better. Just kind of ready to get on with it. She is a tough gal too. We will both have to be I'm sure.

Just wanted to say I am sorry you are having to deal with this worry. However, wait and see what the neurologist says before jumping to any conclusions ( I know so much easier said than done!)
I am sure you already ruled out ear infection. I know several months back Jack had one and I thought "oh no he is getting worse" turned out to be an easily cured infection.

If worst case is true and it turns out to be CM/SM you have plenty of company and as you know from reading what others say on here, there are lots of options to help Gracie manage her symptoms.
We are all here for you. Do update on what the neurologist says.

Sending you lots of hugs:hug:

I would definitely be off to see a neurologist if ear meds didn't fix up the issue. So I think you are doing the right thing!

:hug:Hopefully things get resolved soon. Whatever the out come you have plenty of support here!

Gracie is adorable. I can't offer any advice for SM/CM but I can offer love, support and prayers. You and Gracie will get through this and everyone here will help in some way or another. You are not alone. It's amazing how we all fall in love with each others dogs.

Thanks to you all...

I do fall in love with everyone's Cavaliers... My heart breaks when they are sick or hurting. This is the place to be when these sad things happen. Love you all...arms stretching around the world for group hug!

Hey all.... making progress

Looks like North Carolina State is just not going to work out. It is very convenient, but the best neurologist for this is out on maternity leave for 9 more weeks and the other neuro who knows SM is not available for a long time. They are very backed up. So going to drive about 90 minutes away to Carolina Vet Specialists, who has a neurologist who specializes in brain compression and spinal disorders. He is board certified. So will keep you posted. Likely to get first appointment later this week or early next week.
