i took louie to the vet today for his 3yr:( yearly booster
and the vet said he has a very small grade 1 heart murmur (not happy) and he weights 7.2 klos.
but she said he was just the right weight for his size because louie is very small

I am so sorry that Louie has a heart murmur. You never expect it even if it is common in Cavaliers you always think you are the one that will get away with it. I was told when Ebony was 2 at her check up that she had a very very mild heart murmur. The cardiologist said that my vet must be good to even have heard it. It might be a good idea to take her to a cardiologist just to see what is going on, vets can get the grade wrong. My vet told me there was no need to take Ebony but I wanted to know for sure and as I am insured I insisted. I have to get her checked once a year now.

With the majority of Cavaliers having a murmur by the age of 5, a Grade 1 at 3 years old is pretty good going. Checking out with a cardiologist is a good idea, but if Louie has no symptoms and is happy and active, all you can do at this stage is keep her fit (weight-watching, which you're doing already, and plenty of exercise), and the general consensus of researchers is that Omega 3 can slow down development of the murmur (several threads on this on the forum if you look for them). My 10-year-old has a Grade 2, my 4-year-old has a Grade 3, but it hasn't got worse over the last 2 years, so Louie may not get worse for many years yet - perhaps never.

It's heartbreaking to get this kind of news. You're taking good care of Louie, just keep on doing what you are doing and take him to the specialist for further evaluation. Good Luck and keep us posted!
