AXA Renewal - Surprising Figures

Hi

I had the girls premium renewal invitations today and the are as below .I have them all falling on the same day so I
don't have to remember different days.

Poppy Aged 5 yrs 2 months- no claims ever - premium £160.17
Daisy Aged 4 Yrs 9 months - 2 claims this year approx £2000.00 - premium £137.63
Rosie Aged 4 Yrs 2 months - 2 claims this year approx - premium £2500.00 - premium £137.63
Lily Aged 2 Yrs 11 months - no claims ever - premium £154.23

Total premiums £589.66 which I paid this afternoon.I can only presume that if you claim the amount is spread over
all the Cavaliers as a breed and so you are not penalised as an individual by an increase in premium's ,otherwise how
can Daisy and Rosie' premium who have both claimed be cheaper than Pops who has not claimed . I did ask them last
year why Lily was dearer than Rosie and they just said that they pay out more on a Cavalier of Lily's age than they
do one of Rosie's age. Anybody any other explanation .

Well it will be interesting when my renewal for Rosie & Harley comes on the 31^st October.
Rosie has never had a claim and Harley had about £ 2,500 this year.

Sabby it seems my figures are the figures for the ages of Cavaliers so if Harley is five you will pay the same
as I do for Pops £160.17 ,I was thinking at least double for Daisy and Rosie .

Brian, is that quarterly? Do they give you breaks for things like microchipping, or having 4 dogs covered?

as I do for Pops £160.17 ,I was thinking at least double for Daisy and Rosie .

Harley is 3 years 1 month and Rosie is 5 years and 3 month. At the moment one of them is £12.99 a month and the other 13.49 a month so only little difference.

I dont think they give any discount for chipped / spayed or quanitities of four ,the figures are per Cavalier per year with an excess
of £75.00 each claim but per condition .Mine are all due on the 2nd Oct but I paid them all today but I did read somewhere that if
you forget to renew they only allow you 14 days to renew after the due date otherwise you have to start another new policy, but again I
read about somebody with a non claim dog who forgot then had to start a new policy but that worked out cheaper than the renewal
quote.
Sabby I have'nt a clue then how they work it maybe its post codes taken into account as well as breed and age but they dont
seem to be looking at claims history for me .

Thats really good Brian for 4 dogs as I have just received recently the insurance per year for Jasper for £596.28 he is 11 and a half now, and we have in no way claimed in a year what you have on your Daisy and Rosie, we have claimed for heart meds, we have decided we can no longer afford to insure him as we know he will never be able to have any operation and he can`t even have his teeth cleaned because of his heart conditon, so we will just put the money aside each month for his three monthly check ups which are around £139.00 which include his medication.

I did get a quote from AXA in June this year for Ollie who was nearly 13 months old at the time and was quoted £184.49 per year £15.38 per month, no medical history, so I just don`t know how they work these insurances out, we are considered to live in a low risk post code area and they dont do discount for micro chipped dogs.

I did actually phone pet plan to question their increase in the insurance for Ollie in June as was told it was due to veterinary fees going up, I am not so sure. May seriously think about changing to AXA next time now Jasper is no longer insured with Pet Plan. The only main reason I have`nt really changed is because I have been told some companies offer good deals the first year to get you in then hike up the premiums the following year.

I get my renewal letter by post telling me how much it is and then I don’t have to do nothing, they just continue to take out the monthly DD. So I can’t really forget to renew it.

God that’s a lot. Who are you insured with?

Brian is right when he says Postcode makes a difference, especially London area is going to be more expensive as they say Vets are more expensive in London. What is rubbish I think? At my new vets I pay £27 just consultation fee. Be interesting to know what other people pay.

Ebony is with M&S and her policy goes up regardless of a claim by about £6 a year. Her renewal date is April 12 so god knows how much it will go up next year after claiming nearly £4,000 this year. I dread to think. I pay £29.99 a month for her at the moment and my other two are with AXA and the same lifetime £7,000 a year insurance only costs us about £ 12.99 a month with AXA.
