Animal Health Trust reports interim statistics from its DNA study of Curly Coat Syndrome in the cavalier King Charles spaniel. Over 8% of cavaliers were found to carry the defective gene.

As of May 15, 2012: 2,803 cavaliers have been DNA-tested for curly coat syndrome, of which 4 (0.1427%) have been found to be "affected" with two of the mutated curly coat gene, 225 (8.027%) are "carriers" with only one of the mutated gene, and the rest, 2,574 (91.830%), are clear of the defective gene.

Thanks for posting this. At home I have one clear, one carrier and my newest addition I am awaiting results. I am happy cavalier owners are sending in the DNA test.
