Doggie tears

I am constantly wiping little Wrigley's face off from his teary eyes. I probably use a wet/warm cloth every hour . I love his little face ..and want to kiss and hug and him .
An hour after I wipe him...he's wet under his eyes again ( plus it sort of smells!)!!
Is there anything else I can do?
I bought the anti-stain stuff...but think maybe that is more to remove the dark stains from a white dog???
My question is whether any of you other Cavalier owners deal with this?

Sorry to be such a pest..but is this normal ?..and just something cosmetic that Cavaliers have?..or should I be seeing the Vet?
I guess I just don't there to be any problem ( such as infection) causing the wet eyes???
Can someone give me some advice?

I can only talk of my experience. My three don’t normally have runny eyes. But when Harley had an ulcer that’s how I knew something was wrong as he had watery eyes all the time and it was smelly like yeast. The vet couldn’t find anything wrong with his eyes but two days later I wasn’t happy and went to an eye specialist and with all the special instruments he has he could see he had a very small ulcer. Maybe it would be a good idea to have it checked out.

It definitely would be a good idea to get a vet's opnion. My Jack had horrible runny eyes that left him w brown stains when he was a puppy. My vet said it can sometimes be associated w teething. He still had it even after 1 year old so with my vets approval I started giving him that product Angel eyes and I saw a significant improvement. At three years old I still give it to him, but only 2x week. I continue to wipe his eyes fairly frequently but it's clear and doesn't smell.

Henry's eyes are a bit watery/ runny. But they don't really smell. I just wipe with a damp paper towel, or soft cloth.
We did address it with the vet and they were not concerned.

I think I will make an appointment w/ the Vet tomorrow to have them look at his little eyes.
(when I kiss his face..there is a little odor where it's wet)
I am sort of hesititant to use the Angel eyes product though... because I have heard some negative reviews on it.
But I do want to find something that will actually help. I appreciate your advice....thanks for the replies ladies!

I am not sure how old Wrigley is? When BB was younger and teething her eyes were very running like you describe but did not smell (at least that I noticed). We used eye envy and it helped a lot but with the constant running it was difficult to keep up no matter what I did - once the adult teeth were in there was a significant decrease. I have read in this forum and online that this is very normal during teething - hope it is helpful for you! Also checking with the vet can never hurt either and I have been many times myself

Yes..he just turned 7 mo's & he is still teething!
So there is hope that once his adult teeth come in..this might go away?...yeaaah !

The odor isn't like nasty or anything..it is "slight"...( hard to describe actually). But my hubby says I just have an overly sensitive nose...he said he smells nothing !
Do you think I should maybe just wait to take him to the Vet?
Maybe next time we go in to have his anal glands squeezed ( which is probably going to be within a month)
..I will have them take a look then... rather than make a special appointment.
p.s. I have tear stain liquid ( bought from Dr. Foster & Smith)...is it similar to what you are talking about?

Also the eye envy is available on the internet and helps to keep any yeast infections from forming but is not internally taken like Angel Eyes. They have a starter kit that is not too much $$$ and has the cleaner, pads and a drying powder. I thought it was the best that I tried but had not used the Dr. Foster's & Smith one.

Additionally, the eye envy helped but there was about nothing that helped while she was teething. I mention that just so you do not get your hopes too high, the powder that comes in the kit really helped to absorb the constant flow of tears but could not keep up either.

Yes.. I will give the Vet a call in the morning then & just ask them about it.
Have to laugh...They all know my voice there at the vet's since we come in w/ both dogs about every 4 - 6 weeks!!
