Quite a number of dogs on the forum have PSOM, so there has been a lot of discussion about it - if you put PSOM into the Search box at the top you should find a lot of information.

Brian--you reminded me that the neuro also said she has arythmia. He said its nothing to worry about but she should have a cardiology consult before any anesthesia (not that she is having any). Is this the start of something? I get so worried. My husband says I'm walking behind her with a shovel!

    Hi
Arythmia just means an irregular heart beat but if your neuro mentioned nothing about any heart murmur they are just playing safe ,so its
up to you if you want to know then go and see a Cardio .Daisy recently had a little op which needed a full GA so I opted to go to a specialist
hospital who had a surgeon and an anestheitist who would be there rather than our local Vets ,she came through fine .If you lose your shovel
you can borrow one of mine as we have four .

You will find a lot of information on all the ills that afflict Cavaliers on Rod Russell's excellent site www.cavalierhealth.org From previous posts here, it seems that arrythmia only becomes a serious problem if the heart is also struggling with serious MVD - hence checking before giving anaesthetic. But I've no personal experience of it myself (except with a human friend who lived with it for many years).
