    Default RVC trial

The Royal Veterinary College is still looking for 2-3 more Cavaliers with CM/SM to take part in their clinical trial of a possible new drug for the disease. Apart from a preliminary visit either to the RVC in Hertfordshire or to some other centres in other parts of the country (including Clare Rusbridge in London and the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket) for a health check, you keep records of the trial at home for 6 weeks. All the drugs are provided free by the RVC, Carprofen is taken daily throughout the trial in case of pain, and you are free to leave the trial at any time.

Oliver took part in this trial last year and the new drug has (completely unexpectedly!) done wonders for him. So please consider taking part - until they get enough participants they can't assess the results and, if they consider the new drug is entirely safe and effective, make it more widely available. If you're interested, or would like more information, please contact Dr Johnny Plassis at the RVC, iplessas@rvc.ac.uk

I just emailed. It would be possible, but I don't know if they'd be interested in Thistle (or in American dogs living in Belgium).
