Sophie has an eye that does that, but it is not quite as pronounced. I see it when she looks at me. Always reminds me of "Igor" in the movie "Young Frankenstein."

I would suspect a neurological cause for this.

Elton is so cute! Best of luck at the vet visits, hoping it is all nothing to worry about.

Really? I have that on my mind a lot recently. I may end up switching neurologists because Elton's/Ella's moved to a different city. I have been in contact but really think I need someone here to look at him again.

I don't think Elton is showing the white of his right eye - it is, as your vet said, his third eyelid coming over. My Aled's third eyelids on both eyes are almost permanently slightly over his eyeballs - he has an eye problem (controlled by ointment) but also tends to get sore eyes (possibly connected with his SM). The third eyelid is simply an extra protection for the eye, but Elton's doesn't look inflamed or anything, so it's probably just a bit 'lazy' and not going right back. Worth checking out but I wouldn't think it's a problem.

I thought it looked like the white of the eye, not the third eyelid from the pictures. (Mom, get a closer look and let us know)
If it is the white (sclera) this link will give some basic information.

It's easy to mistake the third eyelid for the white of the eye. I had Aled as a rescue at 18 months and it took me a couple of months to sort out which it was! I've never had a dog before whose third eyelids are permanently out.

PS On taking another look at the photo, it does look quite pink, which is how Aled's third eyelid looks when his left eye is sore.

Just to clarify my post about Bentley's eye, it's the iris of his left eye that looks as if it has a "notch" out of the inner side. I had never heard of a third eyelid and still don't know if that's what his condition is, but he doesn't seem to have any other problems related to it.

I always assumed, in Sophie's case, it is just a lazy eye, like the type humans can have. She seems healthy and the vet has never said anything. I wonder now if I should be concerned?
