    Default Atlanta area vets?

Is there anybody from the Atlanta, GA area that is happy with their vet? I am currently with a vet which I am not real confident with although I am not sure why. She even owns a cavalier, but when I mentioned a few problems that cavs are known for she just seemed somewhat nonchalant about it and didn't really offer much useful information. We started going to her because I also have a rescue dog and this was one of the vets they recommended that works with their organization. Soon we will be getting Remy neutered and I would like to feel a little more confident about my vet. I am located in the Gwinnett county area.

I cannot help you with a new vet ref but I want to say my vet who I love and can pretty much verbatim tell me all the cavalier health issues AND she is also very "nonchalant" about them too. Personally I think because every breed has some issues and they are just a normal part of being a vet. I do not think of it as uncaring. Bottom line is IF you don't feel comfortable and confident for whatever reason you should find another vet. I hope someone here will know. Pat I think is in or near Atlanta and is extremely knowledgeable try PMing her.

Thanks Melissa, I will try PMing Pat. There are several other reasons. Her partner just left (who I really liked) and the practice is located in a different county. Gwinnett allows the 3 year rabies vaccine whereas Fulton county it is yearly. I just can't put my finger on it, why I don't care for her practice. It may be that they are always trying to promote certain products, but seems like all practices do that now. Callie, my other dog was spayed there and had no issues, doesn't even have a scar, but the vet that worked on her is the one that left. I am also going to contact the CKCS club here and see if they have any suggestions.

I know someone outside Atlanta who speaks extremely highly of a Dr. Jory. He may not be a GP or whatever they are called. Her cavalier has an autoimmune disease so he might be a specialist.

Pat and holly should be able to help you so you have good contacts there.

Our old vet moved to Atlanta - Dr. Melissa Braver. I don't know what practice she has joined, but I highly recommended her. She is very good and very compassionate. She was wonderful when our Lhasa Julie was sick from cancer.

Looks like she's now at an emergency clinic in Atlanta: http://www.cobbevc.com/our-staff/

Thanks Annie and Lani, I will check out those leads. Also is there a way to search for members on this site? If I type in "Pat" I get every thread that has the word pat in it such as "when I pat my dog's head"...

There's the member list as noted, or you can go to one post by the person and click to see their latest posts. Or to use search, you need to search choosing the member name on the post rather than having the name in the keywords. That also lets you narrow down the subject of her past posts by adding an actual topic subject in the keywords, too.
