Online photo competition - celebrity judge!
This competition is to raise money for an exciting new Rupert's Fund (www.rupertsfund.com) project, details to be announced, for research into Chiari malformation/Syringomyelia. We are very excited to have celebrity "bionic" vet Noel Fitzpatrick judging the photo competition, assisted by Clare Rusbridge.
Photographs for the 2015 Cavalier Matters calendar will be selected from the entries and the calendar will be available through the gift shop http://www.cavalier-gift-shop.org/index.php
The winners will be chosen on the appeal of the photo rather than technical merit. The dog should be in focus, ideally on the eyes. Photos taken so that you are at the eye level of your dog rather than looking down at them are often more interesting.
There will be an entry fee of £2 per photo, 3 for £5 or 10 for £10
**PLEASE READ THE RULES CAREFULLY***
The competition is open to all, in all countries.
Each photo can only be entered once into the competition, but you can enter more than one photo per category.
Photos may be digitally enhanced.
All images to feature Cavaliers only please, except for "Share the love"
You must own the copyright to the photo ie it MUST have been taken by yourself, or a family member or friend - and entered with their permission. Professional photos [taken at pet shops, studios etc] are NOT eligible. By entering, you are giving us permission to use your photo in connection with the competition and for the calendar - you retain the copyright. We may contact you with regards to using your photo for other products for fundraising.
To submit an entry, post your photo on the Cavalier Matters fundraising page https://www.facebook.com/groups/317553661672759/ in the appropriate album or from your photo hosting site eg Flickr or Photobucket to the Cavalier Talk board to the appropriate thread. http://www.cavaliertalk.com/forums/f...ar-competition
The young ones (up to 12 months)
Golden oldies (over 7 's)
Preloved (rescued and rehomed dogs)
Most appealing eyes
Share the love (Cavaliers and their companions - animal/vegetable/mineral or even cuddly toys!)
Fun in the sun
Best Action Shot
Always in our hearts (for those Cavaliers sadly no longer with us)
Judge’s choice (any photo)
** if your photo is chosen for the calendar, you will need to submit your photo to me within one week of the results being announced, otherwise it will not be possible to reproduce the photo on the calendar and another will be chosen.
For the calendar the image size is approx. 7" x 5" so to get really good print quality we need photos of at least 1600x1200 pixels [otherwise the photo appears as lots of little blocks of colour and looks horrid] Many camera phones do NOT take images of sufficient file size, so please check this carefully, photos taken on a tablet [Ipad, Droid etc] MAY be ok if they are at best quality and not cropped. ##Minimum 3mp [megapixel] camera##
Please check the size of your photos, you can check in any image editing software - if you do not have any software, you can download GIMP free of charge http://www.gimp.org/
Do not use software to increase the file size as this decreases the quality of the image.
If you are still having difficulties, e-mail ONE photo to firstname.lastname@example.org for me to check.
The file needs to be in JPG or ZIP format, minimum size of 2mb, max 3mb.
How to pay
Payment for entries is to be by Paypal to email@example.com – account is in the name of Trevor Hughes [so that I can ensure all entries have been paid at the close of the competition], alternatively by cheque or a bankers draft in pounds sterling payable to "Syringomyelia DNA Research" [please e-mail me for the address to send them to].
If paying by Paypal, please could you add a little extra to cover their fees? [It’s free to send money to friends and family when you use your PayPal balance or bank account as your funding source.]
For us to receive £2, you need to pay £2.28; for £5 send £5.38; for £10 send £10.56. Please quote your (board) name, and your full name and address with your entry. Thank you.
######CLOSING DATE for entries is midnight 31st July!######
The winner and a runner up for each class will receive a very special award.
Any queries, please e-mail me at RupertsFund@idnet.com
