So Buddy has his cardio ultrasound and the feedback was good. In a nutshell (and paraphrased by me so excuse the lay terminology) his heart murmur sounds worse than it is because of the direction of the blood flow; he does have MVD, and a few other leaky areas, but he’s not in imminent danger of CHF; and finally, that Vetmedin is not warranted at this time.
On another note, he does have increased lameness in his legs and I was talking to the vet about him starting either cartrophen or metacam. My other dog, an arthritic beagle who passed some years ago, did well on both of these when her arthritis took hold. She didn’t have heart problems though.
Does anyone here have experience with either of these drugs? I’m worried about them in terms of MVD.
thanks
