We tend to say we are going 'out West' or 'to the west of Ireland' rather than calling it the west coast! Funny how different terms are used in different places. We would however refer to the 'east coast' of Ireland. You also only go 'down the country' and you go 'up to Dublin' never the other way around, even if you are going down to Dublin from Monaghan or Donegal or Northern Ireland...
