    Oh, Jen, you probably want to let your breeder know the results every year. It will really help your breeder to determine future breeding combinations, especially as Abbey gets older.

    what is the best age to starting gettting their hearts checked?. can my vet do t or do i need to go to see a specialist?. and if so is there any in northern ireland?

    Vets are not very good at hearing murmurs; see the chart here:

    While a good vet always checks hearts every time your dog goes in (mine does), you need to see a vet cardiologist for testing. You should contact the Northern breed club secretary to see if they know who does this; generally it is a vet school. Most people suggest getting a first cardiac exam done after 2 years old. Because heart disease is progressive, young cavaliers rarely have murmurs. Probably around 2 or 3 is good for a first test for a pet cavalier.
