We are devastated to share the news that Cavalier Matters' darling Dylan has left us for the Rainbow Bridge, at only 4 years and 7 months. We feel cheated that he didn't get to live a long and happy life, for him and for us.
Dylan was an amazing character in a small body; he had that true Cavalier Charisma, everyone fell in love with him. He would bash the door to go into the vets and bounce around saying hello to everyone, and would be greeted by name before they eventually remembered to say hello to me, too
. He made a special friend of one nurse when he did his favourite trick of standing on his hind legs and wrapping his paws around her leg, the first time he met her! It was the best hello.
A few months ago, Dylan went on a road trip to visit Cavalier Castle; he was delighted to meet Doctor Dougall and the Lovely Lulu, and thoroughly enjoyed his visit. He also made some Labrador friends, and even did some gundog training!
Dylan was obsessed with water; he was our only Cavalier ever to swim. We bought him a Lifejacket and long line to keep him safe. He was known as a Superhero as he loved to rescue sticks and rocks from drowning
. He would cry to go into the water.
He also loved his Pickpocket foragers toys and enjoyed those every day for a while after tea, which tired him out mentally. He was a very clever boy and liked to use his brain.
Dylan was such a wonderful dog to take out, he loved exploring all the different walks and landscapes around here - he especially loved the beach. He was very obedient, rarely going more than 20 feet from your side and happiest sniffing around and just enjoying being with you and outside.
Sadly on one of these adventures, a few months ago, we believe Dylan was bitten by a young adder. Complications from this became unmanageable, so we had to say goodbye, to prevent him suffering.
We are absolutely heartbroken, Dylan was such a very special Cavalier. We have a lifetime of memories from the short time we were blessed to share his life.
