Keep Molly in your thoughts UPDATE 04/05 A GOOD DAY :)

:updte:
03/28/07

:( Sad to say Molly's improvement didn't last long. Must have been the shortest lived nerve block in history. We are now at the point where the Drs at Cornell (including the pain specialist) are stumped as to why she has pain and why it is lasting so long.

We are in the process of mixing up her medications, as the ones she is taking are apparently not effective. She is starting a sedative so that she won't tense up (which causes her to flinch and therefore cause the sharp pain) and tomorrow we are starting tylenol 4 for the actual pain.
The pain specialist from Cornell is having a special topical application mixed up for me which includes lidocane and ketamine.

If this is the result of a pinched nerve or torn muscle it is taking way to long to heal. Hopefully by changing some of this medication, she will be able to relax enough that her body will be able to heal instead of being re-aggravated all of the time.

Oh Bev....Poor little Molly and you. What you all have been through is just heartbreaking. I feel so bad for Molly and you. I hope they can get a handle on the pain soon. It must be so hard seeing your baby in so much pain. Please know that we are praying for Molly. You have sure been through it with this surgery. I am hoping for a pain free outcome for Molly and soon :flwr:

Molly's story just breaks my heart. Poor thing. I sure hope the Drs. can get her pain figured out and relieve it for her. Praying for you both!!

Oh no I was really hoping that Molly would be better now - gentle hugs for you both, it's so hard to see your precious baby suffering and you must feel very frustrated with what's happening :flwr: :flwr: :flwr:

Oh no; hang in there; hopefully time and some meds will help you over this setback. :xfngr:

So sorry to hear this news.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Molly.

Hope things settle down quickly for both your sakes. :flwr: :flwr:

I hope the Drs are able to get to the bottom of this; I'm sorry for all this stress! :flwr:

I am so sorry to hear that Molly is in so much pain. Sometimes we really wish that they were human so they could tell us what they are feeling.

Your love and dedication to her is all that you can do, and is so much more other Mommies can do. Good On You. I will keep Molly in my prayers tonight.

Oh I am so sad to hear of Molly's setback. I really hope that this is just a short term thing and will get sorted very soon.

So sorry to hear Molly is in so much pain and discomfort. I hope they can get it sorted for her soon, Bev. Big gentle hugs for her from me and my boys and a hug for you too. It's hard when you've got a poorly furbaby :flwr:

Bev,

Hope Molly starts feeling better. :) I am so sorry to hear of another setback. :( Hopefully this is the last one you'll go through and everything will be great afterwards!!

Oh Bev! I've been following Molly's story. My heart goes out to you and your family! I know it must be so difficult to watch her in pain. But, she's so lucky to have such a loving family who's willing to do everything in their power to get her on the road to recovery. I truly hope that this is the only setback and it's clear skies from here! You're in our thoughts! :flwr:

:updte:

In my wildest dreams this is not where we were going to be six weeks post op. The last week has held some good and some bad but it appears this is going to be a long haul.

We started Molly on acepromazine (a sedative) last week and that has made a huge difference. It allows her to relax and rest much more comfortably and has brought her anxiety of the anticipation of pain down. She does still occassionally flinch at sudden movements but not quite as much. She has become nervous in general and only wants the comfort of her crate.

We are still battling the pain medication. We received the topical ointment the other day, but I don't see that doing any good, it says apply to the affected area, but honestly it's impossible to pinpoint where the pain is coming from as she doesn't hurt if you touch her. She can be moving her head all over the place, nothing, then all of the sudden yelp out and bow her head in pain. I think the tylenol 4 was better than the tramadol but not what we'd like to see, so we are starting deramaxx.

We have seen little glimmers of improvement but I don't know if she is getting better or if it is the medication. Just in the last couple of days she is wagging her tail, she will stand up and eat her food (no spoon feeding).

i'm trying to stay positive that this will heal in time and is not a permanent condition and that we have put her through all of this for nothing.
