We have decided to adopt another little King Charles Cavalier. His name is Teddy, he is a puppy (8 weeks on Tuesday) a little boy and a very pretty Ruby.
We thought about it and discussed it with friends, and family, and without a doubt one of the first things than anyone who had a dog said was "I know this isn't probably the right time to say this but if you are going to get another, then try and get one sooner than later as soon as you are ready".
The empty space left by our beautiful little girl just seems to get bigger and bigger. Every day there are new 'firsts' to get through, without her, and not having a little soul to look after, seemed so wrong. Although we miss Megan so much, knowing that Teddy will be with us in a week, has given us a new lease of life, a focus and given us the chance to think forward again.
He comes from a very reputable and highly recommended breeder. He is one of three pups, and we have been able to watch him on 24 hour webcam since we first found him. We have visited him twice, and going again tomorrow. He is a KC pedigree, with a recorded four generation history, and won't be able to come home until the end of next week after his vet visit and injections. He is already potty pad trained, and used to being in a crate, so our initial training hopefully may be a little easier than a pup who isn't. We don't intend to keep him in a crate forever, but I think its a good idea for him to have a safe place/bed/cave during his youth.
Very Daunting to have a puppy as megan was 4 years old when she arrived, and such a good little girl from the start, but again, becoming new parents will be a treat for us, and learning how to bring up a good little boy is something we both look forward to.
We also thought that a ruby boy would be sufficiently different enough from Megan so that we weren't constantly looking for her, in him. He will have his own personality, quirks and can be a little character all of his own.
I look forward to sharing little Teddys adventures with everyone at Cavalier Talk - where undoubtedly I will have questions to ask every single day (and possibly night).
I will get Richard to show me how to add images, so that I can share him with you all. We have a couple of pics already, a bit blurry but the first of millions I imagine.
