. Every single time I've had a puppy I've already forgotten how much work puppies are! And I've had quite a few. I've learned that good management is your friend -- a handy puppy pen, a comfy crate, baby gates on doorways, good age appropriate chew toys, especially while teething (which gets very intense from around 6 months on as young dogs need to exercise and develop their jaw muscles)... keeping things away that I don't want chewed (clothes, dishtowels, socks, small items that can be easily reached, any poisonous houseplants, electric cables...) and so on. Also, there are good positive training techniques to be used too so that the adult your pup will become isn't overly chastened or shut down for doing what are normal pup and dog things. The puppy phase passes so quickly too!
